Pros
The best part of working here is my coworkers. We always manage to have fun while we work. As someone who loves working with people, I enjoy being a cashier. Bonus checks every six months.
Cons
Far too many rules. Most of the time, these get ignored. There is a huge disconnect between corporate and store level, and those making rules and regs often make things either unnecessary, or simply a waste of money. Coupons. Harris Teeter is not very good at following any rules, and at our store, we were told to break the rules when a couponer came in! We are told to do anything, even give stuff away for free in order to not get a complaint. Harris Teeter is stomping over their employees trying to please customers. The pay is pretty bad too. I have worked here for over a year and a half, work in 5 departments and am customer service, and I still make less than a dollar over minimum wage. Also, Harris Teeter has quite a lot of butt-kissing and if you ever want to make it above a cashier, you have to get in good with your managers, who, might be told they are leaving. That's right, managers can be told, at any time, that they are getting transferred, even without their permission. Our meat asst. Manager is only at our store because he threatened a lawsuit because they moved him from our store SIX times! The training tests were from 1980, when the outfit was different. It's ridiculous. As of a week ago, we can now get fired, on the spot, if we get a complaint.
