Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're really saddened to hear this was your experience, as it is the opposite of what we are striving to create for our people.
First and foremost over the last 6 months specifically, we’ve been actively listening to our people - taking steps to unlearn systematically racist societal tendencies and unconscious biases, and continuing to educate ourselves on how to support communities that most need it and amplify diverse voices and organizations standing against racial injustice.
We launched a 3-part DEI Learning series internally to address the structural aspects of racism as well as the dangerous implicit bias in many of us, and we’re implementing policies internally to ensure that members of our Headspace team are supported and have the time and space they need to process, heal and take care of themselves and their families during this difficult time.
These are much needed first steps, and Headspace is committed to ensuring that our actions don't end there. Our Diversity Advisory Council will continue to keep us accountable and ensure that our sense of urgency in this area won’t fade as time passes. There’s a lot of work that still needs to be done, and while we know we don’t have all the answers, we’re committed to learning, contributing to the conversation, and taking action to spur positive change.
We’ve also brought onboard a Creative Diversity Director and a Director of DEI, both of whom will be 100% dedicated to building inclusivity into our content development process and in our workforce -- ensuring that we hire, collaborate with and create an equitable, inclusive environment for a wide range of people and perspectives. We’re working on a more inclusive content plan (with offerings in-app and on our social platforms) that better reflect the current environment and support the needs of our diverse member base.
We're conscious you've recently moved on from Headspace, but if you'd like to chat 1-on-1 to discuss your concerns in greater detail, please know you're always welcomed to come speak with me (or another member of our People Leadership team) confidentially - please feel free to reach out anytime. We take your feedback to heart, and really appreciate you sharing this with us so we can work on doing better.
Yours -
Simon Perry
