Pros

- 401k Match (suspended during COVID-19) - More Holidays than anywhere else I've worked - Option to work from home - Flexible PTO - $1,000 home office grant - Education Allowance for conferences - Internet and Phone reimbursements - Tuition reimbursements - Generous Health/Dental/Life Insurance - Time with Family - Company truly adheres to stated company values from the top all the way down

Cons

- Without working in the office, there are some "water-cooler" conversations that I would have gotten working at another place. - Before the pandemic, I would try to go into the office a few times, and when I went in, I tried to get a desk on the Robin system. I tried 4 different times reserving a desk, taking my stuff over to get started and then someone would say that, "so-and-so works at that desk." Finally I just asked everyone around which desk is NOT being used. I sat down at that desk and the monitors didn't have a cable and other hookups to conveniently hook my laptop up, so I worked from my laptop with one screen for a few hours and finally went home. This problem might not be an issue at the new building. - I don't really know anyone else who works at the company beyond the maybe dozen or so people I work with on a regular basis. - There is not really an opportunity to become friends with anyone.

Thank you for your review, for your feedback, and for contributing to our company's success these past 1-2 years in the important technology leadership role of a senior software engineer. Your work directly contributes to the company's ability to achieve its mission. Thanks also for sharing the positives you've experienced thus far at Health Catalyst. I also appreciate your thoughts about improvement opportunities and your advice. I agree that we have opportunity for improvement in how we manage desk assignments, and I do believe we'll take a major step forward as we move into our new building late this year/early next year, as this has been an area of focus for the cross-functional design team. I also agree that with COVID we have had to limit extracurricular activities and gatherings, and generally we can do better here independent of COVID -- this certainly shows up in our scores on the "best friend" question on the Gallup Engagement Surveys (which we'll discuss during today's All Team Member meeting). I also appreciate your perspective about reinstating benefits like the 401(k) match -- we're working on it and we'll provide an update in today's All Team Member meeting as well. We'll also keep thinking of ways even during COVID that we can stay connected to one another -- hopefully today's All Team Member meeting will be one of those helpful connection points. Thank you again for your contributions to our success and mission! Best, Dan

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
