Pros
You develop a huge range of skills here. Every day is different, the work is dynamic and you keep learning - there is no chance to get bored or stuck in a routine. You have some flexibility in decision-making and can see the direct impact of your presence on the store and on the business as it grows and flourishes. You can build a great team set goals together and watch people develop. HR is available and supportive and some experienced area managers give you space to be creative and effective without micromanaging. Overall, I’m happy to come to work every day, because I know my presence makes a difference. I have the opportunity to bring health to my customers and create a friendly atmosphere for my team. We all go above and beyond to help each other and it feels good to know that our group is contributing to the company’s success which is happening organically and impressively.
Cons
The role can feel like a 24/7 responsibility and the level of accountability is very high. At times the compensation and what the company shares back do not always feel fully aligned with that level of responsibility. The business is growing very quickly and sometimes the growth moves faster than the planning and systems that support it which can show up as occasional errors or disorganization—fairly normal for a company at this stage but still challenging. It would be great to see more investment in strengthening systems and processes and in viewing headcount as a key long-term asset during this hectic growth period.
