Pros
You will be paid a mediocre wage. That's all. This is not a fine working environment. all you get is pay.
Cons
Read all the reviews about this company on Glassdoor. Then, notice how many of these reviews have the work "great" in the title. When you see one word constantly appearing in a review, like "Great," you've got to be suspicious. Is it possible that someone is messing with the reviews? How can so many Healthypets reviews be 1 star, and then you see a group of 5 star reviews? This is NOT a "great" place. There is nothing resembling a diamond in the rough. This is just plain a rough place to work. Talk with any of the managers of the company. You can identify them because they have the most miserable faces. These managers will NOT go out of their way to protect you, nor make your time at this company "great." Nothing great about it. Regardless of the level you enter this company, in someway you'll be impacted by the owner--and the experience will not be great. Here are some words that should be used in place of "great:" how about "micromanaging?" Domineering? Please, go ahead and ignore all the negative reviews. If they hire you, the day will come that you'll be sitting at your desk, crushed under the workload, never appreciated by the owner or his managers and it will dawn on you that you've been misled into a terrible place to work. You can go online and look up many of the folks who've left. Email them. It's a long list of dissatisfied people. Only one person, or one family getting enriched here, and it's not going to be you. Again, try talking, or emailing those who've left the company. You want autonomy, forget it. If you work for a manager, they all report to the owner and he doesn't give the managers one iota of autonomy. If you are applying to be a manager, be prepared for ZERO autonomy. You will be told what to do as a manager. If you're lower down, you will be told how to do your job on a daily basis by your manager. So let's add up the reasons you'd want to work anywhere: money, responsibility, being able to learn new skills, working as part of a team on a mission. Here, the ONLY good thing is money, and you won't be paid all that much. When you factor in how the owner will rule you--because he believes he knows everything--you won't even be able to breathe without permission. Seriously, I've heard people getting reprimanded for taking too long in the bathroom. During my time there, I probably met many of the people, and I don't recall anyone of them being happy. Although it's normal most places to complain about the management, here folks are talking about being taken for granted, disrespected, getting nasty emails, rude comments. Not a nice atmosphere. But,. hey, you can discount all the bad reviews. Of course, every company has employees who "don't work out," or don't fit with "the corporate culture." This company is a revolving door because of substandard treatment of their employees, and less than adequate money for people living in the bay area. Yes, there is a game room. What, you can't play games at your house, you need to play at work? Yes, sometimes they give you free food. What, free food makes a "great" company. Be real, and think very hard about this one. I wish someone had told me the truth. I have nothing but bad memories.
