Pros

The culture is mission oriented and family focused. Integrity, faith, and professional and personal development are highly valued. Serving children and families is a privilege and most days does not feel like work. Employees enjoy ample support from all departments, department heads, administration, and the Board of Trustees. The Hendrick Home Board of Trustees is exemplary in their dedication to The Home and its mission, the employees, and especially to the children and families served. Hendrick Home's benefits and compensation are competitive. Quality is of utmost importance at Hendrick Home: from the programs to the staff to the facilities, Hendrick Home is top notch.

Cons

There are no cons; social services can be a difficult industry to work in. However, working at Hendrick Home creates a safe, supportive, and fun environment for work that can otherwise feel difficult.

Pros

The mission of Hendrick Home for Children is one that not only serves the children, but in the process changes employees to become better in their work lives and in their personal lives. HHC accepts the highest standard of performance, because that is what the kids deserve. Administrators at HHC are kind and compassionate. They put the children first in all their decisions, and help staff to learn and have the appropriate tools to accomplish this great work. Working at Hendrick Home for Children has been a privilege. I am surrounded by the best of people who work together with common goals in mind. Administrators work with staff and help build them up. They are fair and think through all their decisions to make Hendrick Home a better place that is safe, stable, and a place that feels truly like home for the children and families who are served. Now that I work here, I fully understand and support the decision of the Chamber of Commerce to present the 2024 award to Hendrick Home for Children and being nominated again in 2025.

Cons

There are no cons, unless you consider working hard and being accountable for your actions as a con ;)

Pros

Hendrick Home has upheld their high standards and reputation of professionalism and integrity since 1939– and will continue to do so for many years to come. The children and families they serve are kept at the center and the heart of all they do. Hendrick Home fosters a culture of growth, compassion, team work, best practices, and accountability. They value their employees and offer an excellent and competitive benefits package that cannot be found elsewhere. Voted Best Non-Profit Workplace for good reason. There is not a single child, family, or employee who enters the home that has not been touched by grace, compassion, hope, healing and love. It’s what they do and they do it well. If you’re going to work in residential child care, Hendrick Home is the place to do it.

Cons

Quality is prioritized over speed, do not expect fast decisions or changes. Expect time to process decisions in an intentional and meaningful way. The expectation is to get things right rather than just getting them done quickly. Exceptionalism and excellence is the standard—not the goal. That requires accountability and can create pressure. This requires the ability to accept feedback as an opportunity to grow, strengthen, and protect the well being of the children, families, and organization, rather than as a personal criticism.
