Pros

There are no good reason to work there unless you're desperate. I'm talking the level of desperate where you're about to be on-the-streets, digging-through-garbage-cans desperate.

Cons

If you look up reviews for 'The Austin Focus' on Glassdoor they are basically the same company. Here's the breakdown: they will accept just about anyone who applies because the turnover rate is rid-icu-lous. They really just need someone inside Sam's bothering people who are just trying to shop. Yeah, you're inside SAMS Club, not being an event coordinator. You're an event worker - think mall kiosk. You schedule is seven days a week. Say goodbye to seeing your family, friends, or sunlight for that matter. My average two week 80-100+ hour paycheck was between $450-600. How is that possible if minimum wage is $7.25, you ask? Because "office hours", which includes lugging inventory around and traveling from event-to-event does NOT count as time "clocked-in" you are working for FREE! Anyways, like another reviewer said, google "Smart Circle". You'll unveil a lot of schemes and scams.

Pros

This has been the best company I have ever worked for! I can say that because when I started job hunting 3 months ago I was at a loss! Austin is huge and there are so many shady companies but Highland has a three round interview process that shows you everything your going to be doing before you even accept the position, if they offer it. The owner of the company is focused on growing her people because that is her passion! She shows her devotion for her employees by having team nights and doing philanthropy around Austin just for fun. When they say they are wanting people who are looking for a positive atmosphere they mean it because they only want to focus on growth and making money, no Drama! I have worked in several offices and this is the only one I can safely say has no water cooler gossip to hurt anyones feelings. I have grown more in the past three months with this company than I did with my last two companies I was with for a year a piece. I encourage everyone to check out Highland and at least meet with the owner as her presence is just amazing and infectious!

Cons

The interview process does get kind of repetitive because they want to be so transparent they sometimes repeat themselves. Negative people who sometimes slip in get in the way of their own personal growth and then blame others.

Pros

The atmosphere in the office is high energy and very motivating. You have the opportunity to learn something new everyday and if you set your goals you will see improvements. If you want to stay stagnant in your life this is not the place for you. They have a very fast paced training program and give you great resources along the way to help you get to your goals. The CEO has a very open door policy - ask for help and she will get you there, but you also have to be willing to work hard to see and get results and move up in the company. Great place to get your foot in the door to the marketing world - you learn everything from making a strategy, how to fix the problems, test a market, product research, psych behaviors, sales and marketing tactics to drive results, team management to train others.

Cons

Time now for time later is a big thing here. But this helps strengthen time management skills. This is a full time hourly paid position with bonus advances. It's promotional work and entry level pay but once you are promoted to Assistant Manager it swaps and becomes very office oriented and you see a significant jump in pay too.
