Pros

I've worked at several marketing agencies in the DC area and there are a few things that Hinge does well. They utilize a project management tool for tracking staff hours, which can help with "over-booking" a resource. Hinge offers thorough budget templates which keep all of the projects on track. They offer a set group of services (although they don't offer many services outside of their "packages", they do their core services very well). Hinge hosts an "all-hands" meeting every week to disclose company financials, leads, web traffic - they're very transparent with their employees.

Cons

Hing is a very political environment. A husband and wife duo at the top causes for a lot of friction among other partners and departments. There's a constant battle between the account management and marketing teams - specifically on lack of management and "who's at fault". the benefits are poor compared to other firms in the DC area (no matching 401k, no maternity leave, no FSA, and expensive health insurance). Very little employee appreciation, which is reflected in morale. During the interview process, I met with several people at the company. Looking back, it was less about being qualified and more about personality and whether you'll "fit in". Hinge felt more like a fraternity/sorority rather than a professional place of business.

Thank you for your review. At Hinge, we encourage a culture of open feedback. While it’s unfortunate that your experience with us was less than favorable, we appreciate the perspective. With that said, it’s important to correct your statement around some of your comments. The leadership team at Hinge consists of 5 partners – each overseeing different aspects of the firm. As a growing service organization where everyone collaborates on all deliverables, fit is even more important than skill set. Skills can be taught and refined, cultural fit cannot. Finally, our business development staffing is structured just like that of our clients in professional services. In professional services, relationships with the individuals doing the work are very important, thus a traditional sales model is not as appropriate. Best of luck in your new endeavors. Hinge

Pros

Culture of transparency, learning and having each others back. Smart colleagues and clients. Work hard - play hard and disconnect fully for time off

Cons

Lots to learn and lots of research, strategy, technology - to keep in mind all the time - if you're driven and creative, awesome - if you're looking for less challenge, less learning - it can be a lot

Pros

So, I’ve been at Hinge Marketing for a year. I’ve officially “survived.” LOL! I’m kidding. I have ALWAYS said, you never know a “job” or know the people you work with until you’ve spent a year rubbing elbows down in the thick of it. So, what have I learned? I’ve seen a team that CARES from the top down. I’ve seen a CEO and partnership team that adds value for their employees - we’ve had extra days off this year, 401ks added, employee cross training, digital programs to enhance our time/task management, and pretty much anything else we’ve asked for on the ground level - we’ve gotten (IF we can make a case for it – which is yet ANOTHER program we’ve implemented this year!) No one is critical or harsh to new ideas. Matter of a fact, new ideas are welcomed. I have also witnessed a lot of employee advancement opportunities within Hinge. If you are willing to start a project and see it through to completion, your efforts will be rewarded. This is a start up culture if you’re willing to put in the effort. You can learn from others. You just have to be willing to put in the extra time to see things through.

Cons

Criticism is hard for me. I'll say that abandoning new ideas too quickly might be a struggle for Hinge. Time will tell. Like I said, you never know until you stay the course of time and I'm not done yet. I love the people too much!
