Pros
Pretty laid back environment, everyone gets their own office or workspace and does their thing, we could listen to music through headphones as we worked and there wasn’t a dress code, small staff (6 at its peak)
Cons
The owner is never there and when he is, it’s like he has wildly undiagnosed ADHD or something. He talks and talks and talks about nothing and comes off as very money hungry. Shuts down any ideas he doesn’t understand because he’s the one paying us. The wife, basically the owner, is nice until you make a mistake for the very first time and then she’s super rude. You also can’t make mistakes with these people—like none. They get angry at you for the very first time you make a mistake and decide that’s going to determine everything. Even if you make a mistake and fix it and never make that mistake again, they’ll still hold it against you. They say they want their company to grow but it’s obvious they don’t or don’t know how. You could show up every single day, do your job perfectly, do more than your job, and they’ll still fire you because they just didn’t vibe with you (the owners are in their mid-40s btw). I’m pretty sure they just hire temporary help when they get backed up but don’t say it’s temporary help with the full intention of firing us after 30 days. To any young college kid worried about looking for a job: skip Hippie Shop! Something better will come along filled with people who are willing to listen to your ideas and appreciate you for what you bring to the table, not clean off it.
