Pros
Small company feel: There is a smaller company feel, I don't feel like I've just been lost in the group. This is nice to have while still having a decent brand behind us. People have at least heard of Hitachi even if it's not the consulting branch. Job security: It's really hard to get fired here, you really have to screw up really bad or just be lazy and/or incompetent. Fortunately we don't work with too many peers that are incompetent. There is a defined pathway to progression, although at times a little foggy. This helps to ensure that if I complete certain behaviors I should be promoted in a reasonable fashion.
Cons
Salary: The salary is fairly poor, despite the bands that glass door has established, I can tell from experience that I fall well below the calculated band. As a consulting firm, we frequently are looked down upon by the "bigger dogs". This is not necessarily a bad thing, just requires more back bone. I have been told frequently by those in upper management that they don't care about education past the bachelors level, this is frustrating as I spent a fortune getting an MBA but they pay me the same that they pay someone that does not have an advanced degree; as long as that person has similar work experience they will pay the same.
