Type A work place...can't trust all higher ups...but some personalities thrive here - Cashier Hobby Lobby Employee Review

Pros

Coworkers are pretty friendly and management is good about allowing time off. While there are plenty of oblivious, inconsiderate customers, there aren't that many blatantly rude ones. While I wasn't impressed by the workplace culture, some temperaments really thrive here.

Cons

A very type A workplace. They want you to follow a bunch of little rules, even ones that seem silly. Heavy on the weird bootlicker/nark culture. A boomer attitude towards work is common. And, for some reason, some employees who aren't your manager feel like the rules (even the counterproductive, silly ones) are a blood oath and feel the need to keep you in line. (however coworkers up front at the registers are generally pretty chill) While the assistant managers are pretty cool, higher management and corporate do NOT have your back. They might be nice to your face but they are manipulators who will fish for ANY silly little reason to get rid of you if you "cross them" and you don't even have to do anything crazy for this to happen. In short, it's a control freak type of workplace culture. Also training is not great for seasonal people.

Pros

good pay. 6 paid holidays.

Cons

Distribution center only cares about numbers, not employees. Keep your production up to 90 or above or you're a goner. Fellow employees wil mow you down trying to pull their items. and if you're slow, look out, you have to get out ot THEIR way. And of course you can't make your production if you can't work and have to wait for others to fill their orders.
