Pros

-There is always work to be done, meaning you stay busy and aren’t stuck standing around one specific area of the store. -Shifts tend to go by extremely quickly because of how visually stimulating the store is, and being cross-trained truly helps you know your store and stay entertained. -At my store, I am never micromanaged. I’m treated as the adult that I am and feel more at ease and trusted. -Typically relaxing environment. -Schedules are often predictable and are usually posted 3 weeks out.

Cons

-Nearly impossible to be hired as a full-time employee in most stores. Low turnover means likely being stuck as a PT associate. With that said: -Part Timers make only $10.45, while FT associates are paid $15.05 PLUS a substantial amount of benefits and perks of being FT. FT’ers perform the exact same type of work as PT’ers (and in my store, majority of the FT associates move slower, are less efficient, and very clearly feel like they have it made and are secure in their position, doing as they please. -Because of the low turnover rate, some stores tend to be a little too “clicky,” which can not only make newcomers feel disliked or I accepted, but hinders efficiency as they will only work beside of each other and cause more tension within the store at times.
