Pros

You are able to get most of the treatments for free or at a discounted cost. However, these treatments will only be given on a once a month basis and only on your days off (but not on a Saturday) and only when certain providers are available. Basically the difficulty of you actually being able to get your monthly treatment only allows you to get about 2 treatments a year if you work full time.

Cons

This company has ruined a lot of women's careers based on their own politics. They have terrible managing skills, and will easily con you into something you refuse to do or feel uncomfortable doing. They only look out for the managers and not the employee's. Almost every single person that I worked with has told me the same thing. I should have taken it as a warning, but I didn't. The politics there is absolutely absurd. Management picks the employees that they like, and then tries to get the ones they don't like fired. There is no "way" of managing there. It's just "I feel like..." or "I don't feel like...". The retention rate there is no more than 1 year. They also make you sign a contract stating that you cannot work in a similar position within a 15 mile radius within 6 months of having a job with them. So in long terms short, you can't get another job easily if you leave. I have never worked for a company with absolutely 0 morals and respect for their staff until I was hired here. When asked to take an anonymous survey about how management was going, we all answered honestly. They then pulled each employee back one by one and tried to figure out who wrote what, and stated that it was less of their management skills, and more of how we were as employees that made us have this opinion. In the entirety of my employment there, they only did one management review. Their ego was hurt from it and they never did another one. No one in management position has had formal training. They tried to deny us breaks. And often times we would get our lunches cut short, or would not have a lunch at all. We were told that it was unacceptable to take any breaks throughout the day (a 10 hour day) unless it was lunch (which again was often cut short). When confronted about it, they explained that they didn't have to. I pulled the state laws of Hawaii on breaks, and posted it. It wasn't until then they they announced we're allowed one 10 min break, but that's it. They are terribly disorganized. I was given a raise, and I decided to check my pay stub 6 months later. They never entered my raise. They had me sign the paper saying that I got it, but they never changed my pay until I mentioned it to them 6 months later. Overall, horrible management. They have no organization or sense of direction. They are EXTREMELY political, and cannot take any sort of constructive criticism.

Pros

Excellent training and wages. Free treatments and discounted products. A really great place to learn about the beauty industry.

Cons

Everyone here is really great to work with. My only complaint is that some workers form too close personal relationships causing favoritism and unfair treatment at times.

Pros

There are no pros to working at HMS.

Cons

I find several drawbacks associated with this place. The owner/boss exhibits a frugal approach. Initially, there seemed to be a camaraderie among colleagues, but over time, it became apparent that it was not as genuine as I had believed. Benefits are subject to manager discretion, introducing an element of favoritism that contributes to a toxic work environment. Additionally, I observed a persistent mold issue, leading to recurring sickness during work hours. Communication within my ‘team’ was inconsistent, leaving me frequently uninformed.
