Pros

- Fully WFH is amazing and not generally found in the industry - Immediate access to clients and all aspects of the deal making process - Flavors of PE and VC mixed with traditional IB – very consultative and custom for each client, helps operationally in some cases - Good access to senior bankers - The team is great (capable and personable) - Way better environment than bulge bracket - Very little to no busy work (just don’t have enough heads to waste man hours) - Not a ‘transactional’, high throughput firm; only takes on a few clients and invests heavily in each one (been other places and definitely not the case even if they pitch it)

Cons

- Small team, high standard deviation (i.e., if you're good it gets noticed, if you're bad it also gets noticed - Have to have a high degree of discipline to be successful - Steep learning curve, however you learn a lot very quickly - It’s IB – hours are long compared to most other jobs. But that’s not really a surprise - Sometimes stressful, will push you out of your comfort zone and make you learn/growth - Small team means all projects are high-priority for anyone

Pros

Through working with the team at Horizon Partners, I gained valuable hands-on experience, feedback from senior bankers, and the opportunity to learn more about investment banking and the software industry. The internship truly is what you make of it, and through having a positive attitude and strong work ethic, there are countless opportunities to learn and grow professionally.

Cons

We did not work on live deals as much as I would have hoped, but I believe this changes depending on the intern class.

Pros

Horizon is a place where a forward-thinking mentality is not just encouraged but essential for success. The more effort and initiative you put into your work, the more you’ll see the benefits. If you show dedication and responsibility, you’ll be granted significant exposure to the M&A process, from sourcing to pitching to execution. This hands-on experience is invaluable, regardless of where your career takes you. The time spent with senior bankers is especially unique, offering deep insights into what your future career could entail. The team’s transparency and willingness to share their experiences provide a rare and honest perspective that’s hard to find elsewhere. One of the standout aspects of working at Horizon is the opportunity to see the full lifecycle of your work. Understanding where your contributions start and how they are utilized gives you a comprehensive view of the process and encourages you to think about your tasks in a more strategic and impactful way.

Cons

Working remotely is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it offers tremendous freedom—you can avoid the hassle of a daily commute and choose where you want to live, which can significantly improve your work-life balance. However, there are also days when it can feel isolating, making it important to find ways to stay connected with colleagues and maintain a sense of community.
