Pros
The only pro that I can think of as an associate teacher is being able to teach and work with students.
Cons
The pay is a joke if you have a degree. Despite working full-time, traveling to multiple schools in a week, being required to teach lessons for any grade level, managing classrooms, disciplining kids, and loads of other requirements, HISD doesn't offer benefits, no paid summer and pay a wages a lot lower than teachers. With the increasing responsibilities that associates are expected to perform, benefits and summer pay should be offered to associate teachers. I work everyday like any other teacher and should be compensated for it. Besides, HISD never have enough associate teachers to fill each classroom so you would think they would offer incentives like higher pay to attract more teachers.
