Pros

Mostly a very positive “employee centric” work environment. You can present new ideans and tell the truth about results. Not at all a "do what your told and don't ask questions" enviornment, management will actually listen and empower you to improve the business and yourself. People work hard at Huges because they are motivated and want to, not because they are forced to.

Cons

This year (2013) "Hughes" was forced to adopt EchoStar benefits. Took away all health care options: Only two options (No Health Insurance) or (HSA "High deductible $6000.00 ($3000.00 employee pays first, $3000.00 insurance pays 80%/ employee pays 20%, after 6000.00 insurance pays 100%) Cut company 401K match from 7% to 3%, Change policies for merit increases.

Pros

Can survive if you hang out close with the upper management. This is applicable to most of the departments here.

Cons

Politics decide a lot of things. Working hours for the pay is not justified.
