Pros

The pay correlates with other districts in the area.

Cons

The vision of the district is to have all classroom teaching uniform across the district. If you are a teacher with minimal skills and prefer having lessons handed to you, this is a good district. The 'new' way for this district is to hire outside the district, so if you want to be promoted, this is not a good district for you. However, if you are coming from another district, you have a better chance. I am a teacher, but have had 10 years experience and many friends at all levels. Last year the district structured the pay raise so that new teachers had the largest raises and the most experienced teacher received the least raise. This shows that the district does not value experience.

Pros

Close to Home. Same schedule as my kids.

Cons

I was disappointed by my recent experience with Humble ISD. After previously being accepted into the counselor candidate pool and having experience within the district, I was surprised to be rejected from the pool without any meaningful feedback or explanation. The process felt inconsistent and discouraging, especially given my prior qualifications and experience. In addition, my interactions with HR were not positive. I found some staff members to be unprofessional and dismissive when I reached out with questions. As a candidate seeking employment, I expected respectful communication and a willingness to provide basic guidance regarding the hiring process. Humble ISD has many dedicated educators and students, but my experience with the hiring process left me feeling undervalued and disappointed. I hope the district will work to improve transparency, consistency, and professionalism in its recruitment practices.
