Pros

HyVee has a great opportunity for young employers to move up to management positions and director positions. The employees that I've worked with over the years were very diverse. Full time employment is always encouraged and there are 401k and Medicare benefits. The medicare is also worth paying for and they use Cobra for insurance. HyVee also prides itself on employee owned, even on the part-time level. Management is usually very open for ideas to better the department or possibly the whole store.

Cons

It is easy to get sucked into the company if you start at a young age. This is different for everyone but I see a pattern in the technique used to lure employees to work full-time. That is a personal con of mine because I avoided college because of it. You may also find yourself working incredible hours when getting paid salary. I've seen assistant store directors work upwards of 60-70 hours bi-weekly.

Pros

Hy-Vee is a great company that truly cares about the communities we serve. Our 14 fundamentals drive both the customer and employee experience, guiding how we treat and serve our customers and each other. Leadership actively seeks employee feedback and uses it to drive meaningful change across all locations. There is a wide variety of jobs and career opportunities in many different areas of the company from retail to supply chain, IT, marketing, and so many more. obust employee benefits include tuition assistance for degrees, certifications, and foundational learning at little to no cost to employees, and the company focuses on promoting from within for most leadership roles.

Cons

As a 24/7 retail business, scheduling can be demanding in some roles — though the variety of positions means there's flexibility to find the right fit. With a large, decentralized workforce spread across hundreds of locations, consistent employee communication is an ongoing area of focus and improvement.
