Pros

- There's some modern technology in place - Team members are nice and helpful - Pay is higher than others in the area, consistent quarterly bonus - Healthcare benefits are decent, they are self funded - 10% discount at the stores

Cons

- Everyone is extremely overworked - Legacy applications are the worst untested messes and nobody wants to update them. Company continues to build and add new things on top of this rickety core of ancient apps and shoddy ETL processes - SAFe framework, need I say more? - Management is awful. You will be gaslit. If you hit your goals and maintain a steady velocity you will be asked to do more and more. Agile is corrupted in this organization. - They have a serious problem with keeping developers, most people seem to have less than 2 years, nobody to really learn from, we're all just trying to figure it out. - I've never cried at work, this job has made me breakdown and question why I'm even in tech. - Management is a boy's club, it's like a stepford wife situation, they all look the same and are all equally incompetent, but they keep getting promoted together. -They supported remote work initially but it's become clear they only did that because they were essentially forced to. If you are remote, your career progress will be capped. You'll never make management remote (you wouldn't want it anyways) or higher positions than Senior Engineer. - You'll be on-call, and you will get called, because the legacy applications will break, often. Or they might just be slow and you'll be stuck sitting on a zoom call with 15 other people silently staring until some blocked process makes its way through, at which point everyone will shrug and go back to their lives. - I wouldn't wish this company on my worst enemy. I have no idea how this company continues to sell groceries. I assume it's purely through customer habit and inertia. - Most projects go through vendors and contractors so I have no idea why they even hire developers - Corporate cult worship. You'll be expected to live and breath Hy-Vee, everything about it feels very fake and you'll hear people say things and you'll question if they're genuine. - We keep setting record numbers but our bonuses never seem to reflect that. I suspect we're making management very wealthy.

Pros

I really enjoyed my coworkers and the management of the store. There were a handful of people who worked there at the time who weren't necessarily my favorite, but overall the team was good.

Cons

There we no significant cons. The pay is not the highest, but these are mainly entry level jobs.
