Pros

Not your normal 9-5 job, but in a good way. You will never have a dull day. A lot of laughing. You are talking about dating and relationships, clients are relatively nice and excited about dating. A lot of the team is fun, feels like a sorority. Money is good when you are making it. Remote work. Incentives. Knowledge that you will never learn anywhere else (training used to be very good before the pandemic). Most of the matchmakers care for the clients and there have been numerous engagements and relationships forming out of the old model.

Cons

CEO is not involved. There is a lot of turnover. Leadership compares sales directors and makes it a competition without understanding how it plays into the toxic work environment. If you challenge the structure from 1990, expect to hear, "maybe this is not a fit for you." Even if you deal well with stress, this job can break you emotionally. Especially at the end of the month, you might find yourself working extra hours. Although there are great sales directors selling ethically with genuine care for the clients, there are a few "top" directors who oversell clients because they can (same perks given for members paying the normal price, not a different service offered). This is great for sales, but not for ethical matchmaking which IJL should provide considering client fees are not small. You will see weird matches being made because "It's just lunch" and it's low pressure (most of the dates are actually after work, not lunch). This is where it feels bad professionally, the clients hire IJL to be selective. Most of these clients are really busy and shelling out thousands of dollars for a service because it's too hard or stressful to do alone. I personally feel this is the biggest low point of the job.

Pros

This is a great company to work for - it is remote and they make allowances for time differences. The culture is great, very welcoming and team oriented

Cons

The work itself can be emotionally draining but that is nature of matchmaking.

Pros

Training was great and the women are organized. They try to make it fun.

Cons

Base salary is not even livable and the commission structure is pitiful. Only the sales reps who are the best at harassing people will reach their goals. You are constantly lying to hard working people asking them to shell out thousands and promising them matches that don’t exist. The amount of anxiety I felt while working for this company was out of this world. 40+ hours per week and hit my quota only to receive $500 bonus. Absolutely pitiful commission structure and no wonder the turnover is soooo high!! Out of date technology from 30 years ago. No other company I’ve worked for in my adult life has had such poor technology.
