Pros

Some great employees...Not so great management

Cons

When they say you are being given a raise don't be surprised if it is only 25 cents. Yes they promote within (rarely) but you will most likely be given some money and a title but you will have to continue to do your old job on top of your new one. When a persons new position is threatened by the work load of their old position/new position combined you have set your people up for failure. In some instances you will have a 3 year trial period before you are fully promoted. When you ask management for a career path they will panic and then give you options you don't want. Who wants to move from one side of the company at a decent position and pay to the other side of the company and have to work their way back up?

IMS has four Divisions including Event Staging, Productions, System Integration and Managed Services. Many members of our team have moved laterally or have been promoted from one Division to the other. We currently have approximately six team members that moved from an Event Staging Technician to various other positions when they decided that the travel associated with the job/industry, no longer suited their lifestyle. Every one of them was afforded the same pay level (for a lateral move) or greater (if it entailed a promotion). We are very proud that we have a number of career paths available for our Team. In terms of employee development, both our Department Managers and Owners map out a career path for every employee. The path consists of IMS training as well as performance initiatives, goals and objectives that the employee is responsible for attaining. When new positions are open, IMS looks internally first to fill all positions. When employees are ready, we promote them. When we don't have qualified candidates internally, we look externally. Of the 78 current employees, over 40 have been promoted from within during their 2-13 year tenure with IMS. Of our six Executive Managers, five were promoted from within.

It’s a tight knit company. I feel completely trusted. Which is soo nice.

Cons

New to remote work. So it’s easy to feel separated from everyone else.
