Pros

Great coworkers and an industry that’s interesting, even if the company itself may not be the best place to build a long term career.

Cons

The company culture has changed drastically with the new CEO and leadership team. While employees are asked to provide feedback or raise questions, those conversations can feel unsafe or discouraged due to the tone and reactions from leadership. The environment no longer feels supportive, and the overall vibe has become negative. Career growth opportunities are extremely limited, and pay does not match the responsibilities.

Pros

I've contracted with IZEA for more than a decade. Great communication, supportive teams, and work I believe in will keep me contracting for years to come.

Cons

I have not had negative experiences.

Pros

The people that were there, some that are still there. The culture that once was.

Cons

This is no longer the IZEA so many of us once believed in. The heart of the company began to erode the moment the new executive leadership stepped in last September. Instead of honoring the people-first culture that Ted built, they ushered in a new era defined by performative values, and profit-over-people decision-making. If ever there was a time to rebrand, it was then, because the company IZEA has become bears little resemblance to the one it once was. They frequently claim to value their people, but don’t be misled by polished messaging and surface-level gestures. Beneath it all is a C-suite leadership team driven more by optics and personal gain than by genuine care for their employees. What was once a vibrant, empowering culture now feels fake, scripted and hollow. The actions speak louder than words and the actions haven’t been in favor of the people. Since January alone, two key employee benefits have been eliminated, with no signs of slowing. It’s genuinely heartbreaking to witness a company once celebrated for its innovation, creativity, and incredible talent become a place where even the most driven individuals feel undervalued and worn down. I’m grateful to have found my way out, but I share this for those still inside or considering joining: pay attention to the red flags. They may not always shout, but they are there and they mean something.

IZEA Response

We’re truly sorry to hear that this was your experience, especially given how connected you once felt to IZEA. It's clear you were deeply invested in the culture and people, and we appreciate the passion behind your words. Over the past year, we’ve made significant organizational changes in an effort to position the company for long-term sustainability. These decisions were not made lightly, and while we understand that some may disagree with the approach, they were driven by the need to evolve in a changing market. We understand that change can be difficult, especially for those who were closely connected to what the company once was. Our focus now is on creating a culture that honors our roots while also driving the company forward in a sustainable and strategic way. Feedback like yours helps us reflect and continue making meaningful progress. Thank you again for your time with IZEA.
