Pros
-Coworkers are some of the best people you'll meet. They're passionate about their hobbies and are fantastic friends -Customers are mostly pleasant to chat to, because of shared interests. -Engaging with some of your favorite hobbies in the workplace is fun, you often get inspired for personal projects.
Cons
-Management makes questionable and often times shady decisions. Constantly putting off raises, putting off evaluations and taking advantage of their staff being passionate about their hobbies. Weekly hour cuts are brutal and often lead to many folks having to scramble for financial aid elsewhere. -Promises of benefits when they are non existent. Full timers get no benefits, and paid sick days are promised but never upheld. -Raises are a joke. You get evaluated, get a raise, then you're stuck waiting half a year for the next one. Refuse to give some of their senior staff a larger raise or even one at all. How are we supposed to pay our bills on minimum wage AND take on supervisor duties? -Communication is non existent. Do you love hearing about unexpected shift changes or not hearing about a certain event until the day of? You're in luck. Management does not keep their employees in the loop for almost anything, and information is heard from other co-workers. It's like the world's worst game of telephone. -Some misogyny is present. Women in this company are often ignored in their concerns, called "too emotional" or outright disrespected by making them feel like their hard work is never enough. Women would get worse treatment on behalf of higher management and even store management. Women also make less in terms of wage than their male counterparts. Environment does not always feel safe for women. -Proposals for change is often ignored, which then leads to customer dissatisfaction. We are then chastised when the customer voices said dissatisfaction. -Very little to no training for the job provided. When asked for more training, there is never follow through. -Empty promises with no follow through, leading to low morale and mistrust between employees and management
