Pros

some very knowledgeable and committed staff at the port level and area management. Good contacts into blue ribbon principals. Maintains good marque value that has entry value and retains substantial goodwill. Strong and diversified product in Middle East. Luxury headquarter location!

Cons

no investment in technology to adapt to competitive challenges. Very poor senior management who have been culled over the years of anybody with dissenting ideas. Very internally focused company. Initiatives frequently launched only to be dropped when focus drifts. Reorganization in 2012 cost a fortune only to shuffle the management ranks. Several senior sales managers have little or no product knowledge. Global pay freeze for last four years.

Pros

Maritime industry is interesting. Boarding ships is fun. Providing great customer support is rewarding.

Cons

Incompetent and untrustworthy management. No direction or goals for our team, new customer acquisition, or any type of growth/improvement. Unable or unwilling to train. They assure you "work/life balance" in the interviews, then expect you to work 50 to 55 hours per week for 14, 21, sometimes 30 days in a row. I should have listened when the recruiter told me there was a 70% turnover rate (can't recall if it was for the role or the company), but I wanted to work in the maritime industry. If you're offered a job here, decline and wait it out to find a better company.
