Pros
Had good benefits, some departments had good managers, working for a privately held company keeps much of the drama of working to keep stock price high at bay.
Cons
Cannot trust upper management, they don't trust their employees and don't share information. Keep too much close to the vest and maintains an atmosphere of distrust and fear. Also, a major "middle-school" like vibe. If not in the right group shunned, people got offended for the smallest, stupid things and way too much time spent on ridiculous slights, no time spent on real problems such as discrimination - not racial, but sexual and age, and correcting other unprofessional behaviors (workplace bullying). And professional development was non-existent.
