Pros
Decent guaranteed base salary that wasn’t going to reduce over time like most sales jobs have. Local family owned business working with other local businesses.
Cons
I was hired October 2020, midway through the first year of the pandemic. The company brought on three new sales reps (myself included) when the pandemic was first trending downward and companies were rehiring laid off positions. Unfortunately the company didn’t seem to adapt its strategies to adapt to the new working environment post covid with most people still working from home. We were trained in sales with the strategy being a mix of cold calls and cold-knocks in person at local businesses. While the sales manager (left after I did, I don’t think it was a performance firing but he resigned for a better opportunity) was understanding in our struggles but thought we were just slow to get our grounding, not due to a new world of B2B sales and buying strategies. He was a good leader and very kind but didn’t really understand that the pre-Covid strategies weren’t working in the new normal, and figured eventually when “things got back to business as usual” we’d hit the floor running. I left for a better opportunity in my previous industry I had more passion for.
