Pros

Strong entry and mid-level employees.

Cons

If you are considering a job at Inovalon I have one word for you-Run. My tenure with this company was the most traumatizing experience in my 20 year career. The company performs frequent layoffs to avoid having to provide guidance and support to employees who would be hugely successful in their roles given the opportunity. many employees who are proven assets are subject to inexplicable layoffs if they question the company’s action and offer solutions. Inovalon‘s performance management policy is nonexistent and staff are given zero opportunity to be successful. Moreover, decisions are made hastily and new programs, platforms, policies, etc. are implemented without due diligence, planning, and with a reasonable project completion timeframe. Employees are routinely told that their jobs are safe, only for the executive team to perform layoffs the following week, leaving staff afraid for their jobs and rightfully mistrustful of the CEO and C Suite executives. High performing employees are forced to take on the equivalent of 2 to 3 full-time jobs, while many departments as a whole are not held unaccountable for their deficiencies. It is common place for hundreds of employees to receive paychecks several days, it’s not weeks after they normally scheduled payday do too hasty System implementation and repeated human error. The leadership team is unconcerned about the detrimental impact this has on employees, many who are facing eviction notices and left unable to feed their families. It is not only commonplace for employees to work until 1 to 2 AM multiple days a week, it is the expectation of the Inovalon executive team. Employees are also frequently forced to work seven days per week for weeks on end. Leadership doesn’t care how the work gets done, as long as it gets done. Ambiguity in policies and job duties leave employees consistently guessing about what is expected of them. Most live in constant fear of failing to read the minds of the executive team, which results in receiving scathing, belittling emails, being subjected to live screaming and berating video conferencing sessions, and being mocked and reprimanded in front of peers and leaders. I am not posting this to bash Inovalon, I am genuinely trying to caution individuals considering employment with this organization by sharing my honest experience . In short I would not wish the Inovalon experience on my worst enemy.

Pros

The company was a great place to work under the leadership of its founder and CEO. It offered strong products, a positive culture, and exceptional sales leadership. However, after the founder and president departed, the company’s direction and leadership changed significantly, impacting the overall employee experience.

Cons

Since the leadership transition, the focus appears to have shifted away from employees and more toward financial performance and investor perception. The company has gone through multiple rounds of layoffs, while at the same time hiring sales representatives who often seemed underprepared for the role. Much of the enablement function was reduced or eliminated, with an increasing reliance on AI-driven solutions. Leadership within my department was challenging (toxic). There was a noticeable tendency to favor individuals brought in from a previous company, which negatively impacted morale and team dynamics - leadership was clueless . The leadership style often came across as inflexible, with limited openness to alternative perspectives or collaboration. It was a “I know best because I’m so experienced so it should be THIS way” mentality . As a result, cross-functional relationships suffered (sales leaders didn’t respect dept leadership) and there was little partnership with sales leadership to reinforce training and enablement initiatives. One bright spot was the Sales Engineering organization. The team was highly skilled, well-respected, and led by an exceptional leader who fostered a strong culture and delivered real value to the business. Overall, while the company offers solid products and has talented people in certain areas, the culture, leadership decisions, and ongoing organizational instability make it difficult for me to recommend as a long-term career destination.
