Pros
Low barrier as no one really wants to be here.
Cons
If you believe you can change things around and make the situation better, know that I was just like you. Firstly, your training will likely be a one-hour session conducted by another unfortunate colleague who joined 3 months before you and you will be left on you own to swim. Any questions asked, you either did not pay attention or is not smart enough. Just when you think you are getting a better grasp of things, you will be made scapegoat of anything that goes wrong because you should know everything better. Willingness to put in extra effort earns you the right to work through weekends, public holidays, leave days and emails from the old guards calling you a halfwit sitting around collecting salary. Be a quiet work dog and you will be in the favored zone, there is no need for suggestions or ideas as any feedback is crossing the line and talking like monkeys in the circus. The more you say, the more you do, the more they can collect as evidence against you. I've seen many bright workers leave during probation. Should you not have a better place to be, take on the challenge but prepare for your exit at the same time. Please save your own sanity, you deserve much better.
