Quantifying and then prioritising technical debt is a difficult problem to solve, we believe that there is a balance between new product creation, innovation and repaying technical debt, we are some way down the path where we now find technical debt on the product roadmaps and within the sphere of influence of the product teams. Engineers are empowered to help shape the backlog and we strongly advocate that improvements are taken in to each time box. In addition to this we have a data cube with significant amounts of machine data, ideally over the course of 2017 we will have very detailed data driven conversations at product level that help guide our decisions on where best to apply efforts, overall our application has low levels of technical debt but fully accept there is always room for improvement.
