What I Wish I'd Known Before Accepting a Job Here - Management J Street Employee Review

Pros

If you want to be at the center of the Middle East peace process and US foreign policy, this is the place to be. Does have some nice progressive organizational perks, like decent insurance and flexible work arrangements.

Cons

Never-ending work cycle; lack of appropriate work boundaries. The culture is described internally as a "big dysfunctional family," which is often used to explain away the bad behavior of senior staff. The work is centered on fundraising, which can result in donors delegating pet projects or personal desires to staff; some are quite demanding and rude. Overall, the workplace is plagued by micromanagement and founder's syndrome. At least a dozen people quit in the last year, some of those left with accusations of gender bias and lack of transparency in promotions. Could not recommend working here to a friend.
