Cons
The biggest knock against "JR" is that the culture is very toxic and the morale in the entire building is in the toilet. Pressure and expectations are very high, but management support is very low. It is a culture of survival through blaming. If you're the whiny, constantly complaining and blaming type, you advance. Most department heads are so inept, that if there is a team member below them skilled in being a loud complainer, they cater to them out of fear of they themselves being complained about. There is no spirit of teamwork, or reward for talent or merit. There is very unprofessional behavior, gossip, back-stabbing, infighting and throwing under the bus that happens regularly between some of the executive team leaders. At some point your boss will talk crap in front of his team about someone else's boss there. If you are looking for a mentoring opportunity, this is not the place for you. Everyone is too overworked and paranoid to extend any kind of help in building your career. You really are on your own. Bonus structure seems to change yearly. It's based less on individual accomplishments and more on company performance against certain goals that you may not even have direct influence on. The review process is vague, uncomfortable and outdated. The sell the company makes is that you get to work with one of the top brands. The truth is that they are a licensee with very strict guidance from Nike, so don't expect much creative freedom. They also have royalties to pay, so your budgets are that much smaller. You are not really "working for Nike".
