Pros
Family owned business - heading into a 3rd generation looking to sell the business of allow it to be a “cash-cow” to fund others. Leadership has little to no direction due to their dependency on suppliers (they buy ingredients direct from manufacturers and mark up 30-40% and try to manage inventories). Overly worked and highly stressed environment (in the last couple years: 1 manager had a stroke, and two others died). They promote work / life balance but its impossible to achieve due to the workload; can’t share the workload because all the new hires with no experience and age-gap (they are just interested in “big titles” with little to know experience being paid $65k to walk in the door). Huge pay gap of tenure employees making less than new hires. Sales team has the ability to make excessive bonuses while the office staff takes the blunt of all losses - lack of accountability. Company uses their “region base” and or “family values” as a charade to lure or attract folks. (Religion is certainly not a “con” however continued prayers sessions during the business hours vs the actions of the company simply does not match. Very private organization with lots of back door meetings - only a select few are “in the know” but preach an open door policy. Owners have personal conversations coaching sessions with employees during the “Great Place To Work” survey sessions with an impact to annual / quarterly reviews (surveys suppose to be anonymous). Way too much gossip and drama flows through the hallways generating animosity amongst workers - very distracting for those who are grinding at their work,
Cons
Lack of direction, too many cliques for a small company, deliver honesty and actually abide by the mission statement and company values
