Pros

Before the merger, JCI was a great environment with room for innovation and creativity to help the business succeed with technology. Initial salaries offered (and hopefully still is) on pace in the IT industry. Benefits are adequate. Strong sales leadership in Global Products and HVAC - NA teams.

Cons

Since the merger, the focus is on keeping the lights on and innovation is shut down due to "budget". Now company that only tracks shareholder value. If the company doesn't value the people producing that value, there is absolutely no reason to work there The company is hemorrhaging IT talent due to the lack of support and flat culture. Systems will continue to become outdated as their is no investment in providing up to date tools. Flat salaries after hire. 3%/year doesn't even keep up with the cost of living.

Pros

Pro's depend on where you sit in the organization. Broadly, JCI is a focused, mission-driven organization leading sustainability and smart-building innovations worldwide. The technology is strong, very strong, we have a data-driven culture, and the work is meaningful. There are endless routes to professional development (you just need to put in the work), and you'll be exposed to teams and people of all walks of life from around the world. JCI's people are its greatest asset. There is a huge collection of really excellent people here. If you enjoy how that sounds, you'll enjoy working here.

Cons

The higher you climb, the more complex the organizational layers get. The closer you are to the customer, however, the less you'll see that complexity. Essentially, the Con's depend on where you sit in the organization. Broadly speaking, JCI sets high expectations that require resilience and adaptability. Your focus is occasionally taxed by news and moves from other levels of the org. You need to train yourself to focus on what matters most to you and not let what you can't control affect what you can control.

Pros

Decent pay, good PTO and benefits

Cons

Everything else. ZERO training. They hand you a laptop (which is garbage) and say good luck. There is no "team." Everyone is on their own. The senior techs all reached their peak 20 years ago and don't even know what BACnet is. The bureaucracy is unbearable. Ordering a simple part is nearly impossible. There are so many apps you have to check in on everyday and they care more about those metrics than they care about the service their customers are receiving. If you want to get your butt kicked everyday with zero support at a company that specializes in taking advantage of their customers, this is the job for you.
