Pros

KIPP DC will make you a better teacher. You receive coaching from people who really know the craft and are invested in making you better. The work is rewarding and I had many coworkers I developed close relationships with.

Cons

The long school days, extended school year, and demanding curriculum burn you out. Students can be very challenging. Sometimes there is micromanagement. I lasted three years. While there were many aspects that were addicting about it, I realized I didn't have much of a life outside of it and the stress wasn't worth sacrificing the other parts of my life.

In my years at KIPP DC, I've always worked with the absolute best, most committed people across all roles and levels of the organization. The team cares deeply about students and the mission. There are ample resources, development opportunities, and opportunities to innovate.

Cons

The work is challenging and requires a significant commitment from staff. Expectations are high across the team.
