*Bad coding practices, code is a mess, projects are not stable. Not allowed to actually fix anything. *Bad Security practices. *Lack of Integrity - they were hacked in and clients were likely not notified. Incident not professionally handled nor anything actually done other than an hour long 'security video', which no one completed. *Low level of technical and leadership skills *Cliche' environment, you're either family, in the group, or you're gone. *Lie-enabling culture - say they are family and employee focused, but there's not even a good table to eat lunch at. Instead there's a ping pong table and stale snacks. If you have medical problems, they'll not work with you (even if it doesn't affect your work or anyone else). If your medication makes you drowsy while you outwork the entire team during your 50hr weeks, they wont care, no matter what you do. *Favoritism - they'll take your idea/design/work and give credit to other people for it later. For instance they'll tell you to not work on it just to let another they like more do the same thing and act like you did nothing. They'll refuse to work with you on similar features and make it look as if you've done nothing despite your efforts. *Unwillingnes of PMs and tech leads to actually manage and lead. They complain about having to define tasks or manage the project - guys this is literally your job title and basic function. Engineers are supposed to follow the architectural plan and tasking you've defined (They actually wont tell you what they want or write it down in a ticket anywhere, but still blame you for things not being done. Or tell you to do one thing and the other lead actively block you from the work to focus on something else. Putting you in a lose-lose.) *Lack of flexibility and understanding of basic engineering. They wrongfully believe things are set in stone rather than actually analyzing the problem domain and coming up with a proper architectural solution using the practices that best apply. When you do, they won't have the skill or knowledge to understand it. *Personal feelings rule/Non-professional - if they don't like you they'll not only sabotage your career there, but they'll invite you to group events, but give you the wrong time & location to exclude you. This happened 3 times. They'll also not return a friendly 'good morning' like civil people do. *They refuse to follow industry standards because outdated state laws allow them to. For instance, they won't pay out your remaining PTO nor provide basic severance. Stealing your earned compensation. *Startup status mentality - they want the big office building as a status symbol, and all the flashy things, instead of paying their people a good wage, providing solid benefits, or taking care of their employees. Instead YOU are a cost to them, something to be cut rather than developed.
