Pros

KVLR is one of those rare firms that have medical doctors leading a private equity firm. The CEO and others make up a genuine team. As a managing director, I had real autonomy to build and execute strategies while always feeling supported by thoughtful senior leadership. The deal flow was consistently interesting, and the caliber of colleagues across investment, operations, and research was impressive. Leadership was accessible, direct, and invested in the development of the people around them. Compensation was competitive and structured in a way that aligned everyone's incentives well.

Cons

Like most PE firms in nyc, the pace is demanding and the expectations are high. That's not necessarily a negative, but prospective team members should come prepared to operate in a fast moving environment.

Pros

I enjoyed this internship, which provided the exposure and experience I had hoped for when entering it. By the halfway point of my internship, I had already worked on two live deals, reviewed over ten investor CIMs, gained strong financial modeling experience, and joined calls with CEO's and investment bankers.

Cons

There are no real cons; the experience is very much what you make of it.
