Run, don't walk, from this sinking ship. - Accounts Receivable Kellen Company Employee Review

Pros

Great PTO, decent salary, attractive offices. There are still some great people and teams here who continued to try to keep the "Client First" attitude despite it slowly being ground out by the "bottom-line only" attitude that upper management prefers - but most of them are leaving or have already left.

Cons

Clash of cultures from various company mergers, none of which were ever well-adopted. Every office has their own ways, and training when offered was rarely standardized. Failures seem to largely be rooted in an association management company that is being run by someone who only understands trade shows and tight margins. Good Association Management requires that most if not all of the workers have a bit of breathing room to provide proactive and innovative customer service solutions, rather than being wound so tight that they can barely do their own jobs and can hardly ever help the rest of their team.

Pros

As someone in communications, this job was a dream for variety and hands-on experience. I got to work across multiple trade associations and industries, which meant every day was different—and never boring. Sitting at board meetings with Fortune 500 reps was an incredible opportunity to see how big decisions happen and make real connections. The work pushed me creatively and strategically, and I loved getting to collaborate with smart, passionate people while learning the ins and outs of so many different sectors.

Cons

One downside is that promotions didn’t always match talent or creativity. Some of the most skilled, innovative, or outspoken team members didn’t necessarily move up as quickly, while people who played it safe and fit a more “vanilla” mold tended to get promoted faster. It could be a bit frustrating at times, but if you’re motivated by the work itself and the experience you gain, there’s still a lot to learn and accomplish.
