Pros
PlattForm is a great place to work for the beginning of a career. The atmosphere is conducive to actually enjoying your work day. The average age of the company has to be somewhere in the mid to upper 20s, so there's always a place to find a friend. Also, the working quarters are close which can be a positive attribute as you have people off which to bounce ideas as well as an opportunity to take mini-breaks to decompress from what is a very stressful position. There is also ample break areas at PlattForm with a pool table, ping pong table, Wii, gaming machines, a coffee break area and a very nice lunch room. Everybody there is incredibly nice and accepting.
Cons
While PlattForm is a wonderful place to start your career, there is very little room for advancement. There are very few positions that are worth staying at the company for, and they are taken by young enough people that they won't be going anywhere anytime soon. The pay at the company is terrible compared to other agencies in the industry, sometimes 25% less than can be received elsewhere. While going through an interview process currently with another company, it has been revealed to me that PlattForm is sort of the red-headed stepchild of the industry and is not well regarded by others in the advertising world. When given new responsibilities at PlattForm, very little training occurs and you are expected to perform with the success of someone who has been doing these duties for years when, in reality, that is near impossible without being given the tools to succeed. Also, even though socializing and taking breaks is encouraged in order to increase productivity, it is monitored closely as the organization does not trust their employees. That can be evidenced by an internet use monitor. It is difficult to work for a company in which no trust is involved. Another issue with the company is that when changes are abreast, the employees are very rarely clued into these while rumors circulate to determine what exactly is going to happen next. This causes dissent among the masses and makes for a very difficult work environment.
