Pros

I thought Ryan was kind, fair and understanding. All my interactions with him were pleasant and he seemed to genuinely care about the company and wanted to help it build. It is disappointing to see that his management below have created a workplace that goes against his vision.

Cons

The leadership at this company often comes across as unprofessional, creating a difficult work environment where accountability is lacking. Concerns and feedback from employees don’t seem to be taken seriously, and poor behaviour is too often overlooked. Pay inconsistencies are also an issue, despite holding the same role, similar background, and starting at the same time, I was paid less than a colleague. Targets are set unrealistically high, and there were instances where when they were achieved, they were quickly raised, which makes bonuses feel out of reach. When team members highlighted this issue, it felt like we were gaslighted to not push it further. While the company promotes flexibility, the reality is heavy micromanagement, with constant check ins even during quiet periods. Being pushed to harass potential students even when they have asked to be given some space to think about study. Working with external partners can also be challenging due to a lack of clear alignment and understanding between teams. On top of that, leadership tends to make promises that aren’t followed through, leaving employees feeling unsupported and demoralized. Overall, my experience was not positive, and I would not recommend this company as a place to work.

I do appreciate the time you've taken to share your feedback. Whilst I might not agree with all of it, I acknowledge your concerns, and am proud of the continued growth and development of our admissions team - especially under new leadership recently. Best wishes, Ryan.

Pros

Strong remote‑first culture, which I appreciated.

Cons

I was one week into the job when my manager informed me that my pre‑planned vacation would not be approved. This trip was booked and fully paid for a year in advance, and it was meant to celebrate several major milestones in my life: my graduation, my 30th birthday, and my anniversary. Canceling was not an option without losing several thousands of dollars. During this conversation, I was told that new hires are only allowed to take two days off at a time. This policy was never mentioned during the hiring process, and I could not find it anywhere in my new‑hire paperwork. For a company that emphasizes work‑life balance and well‑being, the lack of flexibility was surprising and disappointing. Instead of working with me on a reasonable solution, they chose to deny the request entirely. As a result, I resigned. It’s unfortunate that the company preferred to restart the hiring process rather than allow one pre‑planned vacation. I do not recommend accepting a job at this company if you have any upcoming travel or personal commitments.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re sorry this situation was disappointing, particularly given how meaningful this trip was. PTO guidelines, including expectations for new hires, are reviewed during onboarding, and we encourage early discussion of any pre‑planned commitments. We appreciate the feedback and wish you all the best going forward
