Pros

Great local teachers who are helpful and kind

Cons

The company will seem great at first, until you settle in all the lies will begin to show. Management will want nothing to do with you as soon as you start and you're left to fend for yourself. Depending on centre you will meet great people but also terrible ones. The company pays their teachers different salaries based on their desperation for teachers. You can be there for years however a new starter will be on much more because at that time the company would’ve been desperate for staff and offered a large sum. They constantly lie to kids and parents and will ask you to do the same, from ages and experience of their teachers as well as the authenticity of the teaching materials. Please consider EF or international schools if you are looking to make a start in the ESL world, keyword will not have your best interests in mind. The company STILL have illegal non-native teachers who are both teaching and in training positions you can barely understand a word some of them are saying, they will tell parents they are from native countries and continue this lie. I have known more people to leave the company rather than stay and renew, it's shocking!

Pros

Good salary. Some centers have cool foreign and local staff who are fun and competent, but certainly not all. All centers are located on the metro.

Cons

Illegal hiring practices meant Keyword recently fired half their foreign teachers with three days notice. A recent uptick in police raids on centers has led to deportation and imprisonment of foreign teachers. As of late many new hires have had their visas rejected after arrival in country without explanation from Keyword. No career development. No upward mobility. There is no strategic planning; ideas are simply rolled out without testing or consideration for possible issues that may arise. Roles within the Head Office aren't defined clearly, so important issues that arise are generally avoided or punted to someone else by management. The curricula development team does very little to support teachers, so be prepared to create lessons from scratch every time, something that isn't ideal for brand new teachers. The technology in the classrooms and teachers rooms is antiquated. Classrooms are small and dingy. Management recently told staff at one center that they want us to be "The McDonalds of ESL"...hardly inspiring.
