Still not paying @ Knackapp (their new domain) - Product Designer Knack Employee Review

Knack is a fantastic company if you want to work on challenging and meaningful projects while growing your skills. The team is super collaborative and focused on creating a no-code platform that helps small businesses succeed. You get to work on things that actually matter to customers, and it’s rewarding to see how your work makes a difference. The projects are ambitious—things like improving the app-building experience or launching new features like Flows. It keeps things interesting, but it can also feel like a lot at times. That said, the team is supportive, and there’s a strong culture of jumping in to help each other when needed. Knack does a good job of giving people room to take ownership and come up with ideas. If you like problem-solving and want to make a big impact, it’s a great place to be. The work is challenging but rewarding, and it feels like the company is heading in an exciting direction.

The pace can be intense, and priorities shift quickly, which might be overwhelming for some people. As a growing company, there are still some gaps in resources, especially when launching big initiatives, which puts extra pressure on teams. The learning curve for new hires can be steep, given the complexity of the platform and the diverse range of projects.

When I joined Knack, there were some good people to work with and smart teams. Unfortunately now Knack is completely segmented and your work output is solely determined by JIRA points, and so it is not much of a positive.

Software development decisions have been handed over from competent and qualified engineers to a group of stakeholders who are very focused on their own metrics. Extremely insecure job. Massive layoffs, often, for political reasons, zero opportunity for advancement in company due to nepotism. All high level engineers and "architects" are personal friends of CTO. There is only one software developer left at this company who has been there for more than 2 years. Severance package gutted down to two weeks so if you have any sense that the company is not right for you, it's best to leave asap on your own terms.
