Pros

-Many joiners come from no professional backgrounds, hoping to achieve exposure in market. If this is your goal, then it's quite good to write on your CV that you have your banking experience. -Female majority culture- as most of jobs are operators, most of employees are women. This can work as a benefit for some women. Regardless your position is either front office or back, in the end it's office culture. -Flexibility: Whilst the work may not be flexible, the way you manage your work and complete your work don't have orthodox. This means as long as you can get your job done, I believe you should feel comfortable of not being micromanaged.

Cons

To be honest, I don't know where to begin with. This may be an essay, but I'll try to keep succinct. -There is no meritocracy- not because this organisation is not preferring others over specific candidates, but merely due to no opportunities available. Hence, specific job title you have will become extremely difficult to progress on to future career path. -No promotion available: Perhaps I need to put words more clearly. It's an operator job mostly. From the first start, they don't require you to get a banking licence, no specific training for professional course of training for VBA, SQL or other relevant banking analyst qualification. -Expat oriented culture- Even though expats do get decent benefit package over local employees, honestly speaking, they struggle so much as well. As expats struggle themselves, would there be any vertical promotion available for locals? I highly doubt so. -Salary system is very difficult to understand. I've seen some ex-employees holding master's degree and really good work experience, but everyone gets paid same. If there is an increase in salary, again, everyone gets same incremental rise. This is irrespective of what work you've done and contribution you've done. Perhaps this is Korean thing, for me it was bizarre for me. -Expats are managers, locals are assistant managers. So between locals, they bully each other very easily. Perhaps because, operators don't know their job description thoroughly, so they are stressed as well.
