Pros

Some of the clients/authors we work with are genuonely interesting & lovely to work with.

Cons

There are few things that I saw done correctly during my time at LID. While the non-management team are lovely to work with, friendly driven and smart, the leadership team at LID is in absolute shambles. There is a lack of work being done by managers, with everything being pawned off the their direct reports. Highly inflexible, a lack of transparency (with managers rarely showing up to the office and impossible to reach), a non-existent HR process for anything from small to large matters. Truly the worst professional environment I have seen in my entire career.

Pros

I cannot think of any reason to work here unless you are desperate.

Cons

This is a completely amateurish operation, which is obvious if you met any employees—they are a all ingénues. The company is totally unprofessional and my boss treated me with hostility and contempt from my first week there. The office space is cramped and dark. There is nothing to learn here, as management is second-rate and the business isn’t even profitable. Salaries are low and they will find a way to make sure you never see the commissions you are promised. The place is a joke and for a book publisher it is criminal that nobody there can write a grammatically correct sentence in English—well, what do you expect from something that is borderline vanity publishing?
