Pros
It's a neighborhood organization. It's nice to work with clients who live nearby and to get to know a community.
Cons
- Unethical practices. Showing favoritism for clients who are more likeable, or who aren't "difficult" in the eyes of the worker. Also, discrimination against Asian and Black clients. - Toxic work environment. Grudges and animosity between workers make entire departments unwilling to collaborate with each other. This makes referring clients between departments impossible. - Funding was slashed a long time ago and services are a shadow of what they once were. - Board and Executive team is all white and well paid; the rest of the workers are hispanic and poorly paid.
