Pros

Good opportunity for acquiring knowledge of wine and service

Cons

You're only paid while the kitchen is opened Give out half of your tips to the house and management the leftover tips are split between first and second waiter no 4% when leaving.. no end of employment sheet.. undeclared?

Pros

Having this restaurant on your CV seems to open doors

Cons

The owner is disrespectful, hateful and condescending. There isn't a shift where he's not screaming and yelling so loud his voice cuts out. Much of the staff is consistently high or intoxicated on the job. I've seen certain waiters add items to bills in order to consume themselves/get a bigger tip for the larger bill after all the add-ons. Tips not always divided equally, which leads to staff arguing amongst themselves on a day to day basis. If the staff bathrooms are any indication of how this restaurant treats their employees, it is clear that the employees receive zero appreciation from this place. If an inspector sized up this restaurant I'm certain there would be fines to pay. Schedules are a mess, they own you. This is hands down the most negative environment I have worked in.

Looks good on your CV.

Cons

The management is horrendous, lots of yelling and slave labour, you don't get paid over time, but can expect 15hours shifts, and anything over 40 hours gets banked. 1 of the cooks has over 100 hours not paid, bounced checks, very disrespectful, they have employees that have been there since the beginning, and make them work well past retirement with little raises, and no pension. The pay is extremely low, absolutely terrible place, I would never recommend it as a job. The owner has said he would rather under pay people, and suffer once he gets a lawsuit because it costs less then actually paying his employs. Please, never apply here.
