Pros

+ Cool tools + Interesting history-making local company with fairly strong worldwide brand recognition + Decent wages & benefits + Steady work - not hugely affected by seasonal or minor economic cycles + Decent Well-ness program for reduced health care costs + Profit sharing (but shrinking) + New gym (must pay for membership) + Well-known Leatherman name when discussing work anywhere in the world. + Leatherman is working very hard to promote brand and increase growth right now. If you want to be a part of that growth, love challenges and aren't afraid of change, come on board! Constant turn-over makes sure there is always room for one more.

Cons

- Apparently, part of the new brand-promotion campaign is to create self-reviews on Glassdoor. The last two were obviously company created to give "their side of the story" and help "balance out" poor ratings (all simplistic & positive 5 star review are a company plant - anyone passionate enough to write a review would be specific & offer HONEST negatives). This Pollyanna outlook that classifies all challenges as normal growing pains are the same small elite inner circle who's main concern is growth & brand value - never needing to worry about getting jerked around, lied to or even loosing their job by reactionary lower management & supervisors who treat employees like expendable commodities rather than valuable assets. Respect & positive relationships make a workplace worth going to every day, not just acceptable benefits and pay. - Latest way to "grow the company" - 4 day 10 hour work-week! Forcing us to choose to work every Saturday or every Sunday - not to mention a 4am start time! This ingenious plan has everyone working over 8 hours a day and weekends without paying overtime. Low wage earners who depended on overtime to supplement their income will see significant loss. From a business stand-point this sounds attractive, but those who decided to inflict this on employees are personally insulated from its effects (all management & office personnel have normal M-F schedules). THEN to add insult to injury, supervisors selectively give favored production employees normal shifts. More of the insider-good-ole-boy stuff as seen in other reviews.

Dear colleague, thank you for taking the time to share these suggestions, and your perspective. You’ve clearly put some thought into this, and while some of it’s not easy to hear, we do appreciate your honest opinions. We’re not perfect, and we’re actively soliciting feedback from employees so that we can make changes for the better. We do ask everyone in the company to work hard, but in return we also have a lot to offer. We are proud of the fact that we manufacture in the U.S. and not overseas, even if that does make things more challenging sometimes. We have made some progress to help make sure that everyone in a leadership role understands the experience of people in different departments, at all levels. We want to break down the barriers that contribute to an us/them environment, because when it comes down to it, we’re all on the same team. We’re working towards a common goal together, and we need to have respect and understanding throughout the business in order to be successful and happy. From what we can see here, it sounds like we could do a better job of explaining why certain changes are happening, so that it doesn’t seem like things are happening without thought or a big-picture plan. You have a lot to say, and it would be great to continue this conversation one-on-one, if you’re willing, please reach out to HR or your manager. We wish you all the best.

Pros

Everyone was great to me there, and made me feel included, even as an intern. My voice was heard and had many opportunities to come up with something new. The work/experience set me up perfectly to help grow my resume and career!

Cons

All the work was super deadline driven (as most larger companies are). It was hard to go back to a task and change/tweak it as I was moving on to my next tasks to make those deadlines.
