Great Administrators, but Changes are Coming - Science Teacher Legend High School Employee Review

- must go through new teacher program if new to the school even if you're experiences - homeroom lessons often not provided and have to improvise

It is a job and there are medical benefits.

The admin are not supportive. While there, a student went through my belongings and when I reported them they were not reprimanded AT ALL. In addition, when a student threatened to "take care of me", my admin gave me the platitude "boys will be boys" and again was not given any disciplinary response. I also had multiple students get away with racist acts towards my extremely few minority students. With Covid-19 they decreased pay and increased expectations 10 fold. When I told them my concerns they told me I could either do what they wanted or take on an additional 60 students as their counselor. The turn over rate for this school in not surprising in retrospect. They pay is also significantly lower than presented by their media and the glass door estimates(as the pay is lower than every other neighboring school). Starting salaries are in the low 30k and because they do not have a significant Union Population the salary is constantly decreasing or remaining stagnant regardless of the cost of living. If you need to get your first year out of the way and have no plans for the long term stay, then you can get through for a while at this school but there is no long term situation that will benefit you.
