Pros
Nice people including the lawyers - business services staff very helpful and on the whole people seem pretty collaborative and enthusiastic about their work. Reasonably flexible - lots of people (e.g. mums / dads) working flexible arrangements.
Cons
Felt pretty provincial on the whole - a bit like a high street firm. Strange dichotomy between the commercial and employment teams - they feel like two completely separate firms. The calibre of the lawyers is very mixed. Quality of work is quite low but high volume. Shabby and overcrowded offices. Pay is at the lower end of the market; they say this is a trade off for a great work life balance, but many people seem to be working US law firm hours but having never worked anywhere else they may not know that is the case.
