Lighthouse Management Group Response
8yThe staffing profession is a very challenging but rewarding career. We are very clear in the interview process how challenging and demanding the industry is. Especially when your fresh out of college, we want to make sure you understand the type of commitment it takes to be successful. As a client services driven organization, there is always a high sense of urgency when delivering the best service possible to our clients. We definitely try our best to make this as clear as possible on the front end. We asked you to think long and hard to make sure you were ready for the challenge. We did tell you, “Do not work here if”:
1) You are not ready to be held accountable
2) You are not ready to be challenged to be the best you can be
3) You are not coachable
4) You don’t have a strong work ethic
5) You don’t want to be a part of a team
6) You don’t bring positive energy and have a positive attitude
7) Being on time is not important to you
8) You don’t want to conduct yourself in a professional manner
9) You aren’t prepared
10) You don’t have a growth mindset
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and it looks like your intentions are to sway people to not work at our firm with your warning. The irony is, we warned you not to work here as well. You convinced us you were ready and we gave you an opportunity. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out as we had hoped.
Moreover, showing appreciation and recognizing others for doing a great job shouldn’t be interpreted as playing favorites. However, it is quite difficult to praise someone who shows up late to meetings consistently and performs at a sub-par level. We don’t pass out trophies for coming in last place. If you’re feelings were hurt, we apologize. It’s never our intention to hurt anyone’s feelings but to challenge you to constantly be the best you can be.
You are a very talented individual and have a lot of potential. That’s what we saw in you when we hired you. However, talent alone isn’t the overwhelming factor in determining success. Best of luck to you.
