Pros

- great colleagues, friendly centre managers - if you are new to early childhood development and education, talking with the staff is very helpful - decent pay and yearly pay increments - stable 8:30-5 pm 5-day work - Visa sponsorship - discounts on classes

Cons

1) HR pressures you into signing a no-notice termination within the first month contract, when the standard HK labour practice suggests at least 1 week of notice from employer within the 1st month of employment. They usually do this to cut budget when they are low on staff as the standard pay for part-time teachers are about 1,500HKD/ day while a new teacher in probation would be paid pro-rata the first month. 2) Huge racial preference to Caucasian applicants. The reason given to me during my sudden contract termination was ambiguous. Claiming that there has been a sudden budget cut and an overall operational change. However, a new non-POC employee was being interviewed and shown around a few days before my dismissal. So it can't be a budget cut when they would have to spend another few months to train someone new from scratch. This experience felt very unprofessional and a well-thought-out plan by the HR. Completely wasted my time. - Teachers are overwhelmed by the lack of support by the admin. Their admin side of work keeps adding up. - Teachers are mostly teaching the maximum number of classes a day

Pros

The company is rich and can throw away food and call it education. You can see some white faces employed, they will be paid more.

Cons

It is a slave ownership in the 21 century. Believe it or not, but the Chinese management thinks teachers cleaning and sanitizing the whole area is ok since they always hired people desperately looking for visas and that’s why their so-called teachers are not educated but just holding on to the sponsorship ready to be whoever the boss says.
